Personnel Office

The Personnel Office at the Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Mt. Vernon assumes the responsibility for the district-wide program of selection and employment of all staff including certified, teacher assistants, nurses, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, information systems, cafeteria, maintenance, and substitute personnel.

The MSD of Mt. Vernon will recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job titles without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, sex, age (except where sex or age is a bona-fide occupational qualification, as defined by law), or physical or mental disability (except where the disability prevents the individual from being able to perform the essential functions of the job and cannot be reasonably accommodated in full compliance with the law).

When hiring external teacher candidates, the MSD of Mt. Vernon will recognize up to a maximum of 5 years of public school experience under a teacher’s contract and at the following levels:  Bachelor’s, B+10, B+20 (excluding first-year teachers), Master’s, M+10, M+20, M+30, Specialist, and Doctorate.   See the Teacher Salary Schedule for specific annual contracted amounts.
