TO THE STUDENTS: 

SENIORS: 

  • Every Senior MUST order a new cap and gown if you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony.  Place your order online at www.jostens.com or speak to Josten’s Rep today during lunch.
  • Your chromebooks will be collected on Wednesday, May 17th before Senior Recognition Practice.
  • Seniors in Key Club please check your email for a google form titled “Senior Recognition 2023”.  Please fill out the form to be recognized at the May Key Club Meeting.
  1. Prom tickets are on sale now through Friday April 21.   They are $30 each.  If you are taking a guest that does not go to MVHS, you must have a guest date form signed before you can purchase your prom tickets.  Tickets will be sold before after school in Mrs. Hobgood and Mrs. Walter's rooms.  The last day to purchase prom tickets is April 21
  2. Auditions for the Mt. Vernon summer musical are Wednesday April 19th and Thursday April 20th 3:30-7:00 pm in the Choir Room. Contact Mr. Baker if you are interested  at bakerdb@mvschool.org
  3. The MVHS Talent Show will be Friday August 28th at 2:00pm.  Contact Mr. Baker no later Friday April 21st to set up an audition.
  4. FCA will be selling smoothies in the concession stand next by the auxiliary gym Thursday morning. (04/11,12)
  5. The state FAFSA deadline is April 15, the end of this week.  Mrs. Rose is here Tuesday and Wednesday this week if you need assistance.  Submit something even if you need to make corrections afterward. (04/11,12)
  6. The NHS will hold its monthly member meeting tomorrow at 7:30am in the media center.  All current members are expected to attend, any member not able to attend must contact either Mr. Bacon or Mr. Bethel prior to Thursday.``(04/11,12, 13)
  7. “The Mt. Vernon Parks and Rec Department is accepting applications for summer help at Brittlebank Pool and with the Maintenance Division until April 21st. Positions available at the pool include lifeguard, cashier, pool cleaner, and concessions worker. Maintenance help will involve maintaining all the parks in the city and will include weed eating, mowing, and general upkeep. Call the Parks Department at 812-838-3691 with any questions. Applications can be picked up in the school counseling office or at the Parks Office located at Hedges. They can be dropped off at Hedges as well.”

CONGRATULATIONS:

  • Varsity Baseball beat Carmi (Il) 14-13.   Jack Campbell got the win for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity. The righthander went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out three.  Watters and Rees Lyons entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Mt. Vernon Wildcats had 12 hits in the game.  Healy, Shumate, and Watters each managed multiple hits for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity.  Healy led Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity with three hits in four at bats.
  • Boys Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Princeton.   The boys track team traveled to Princeton for a dual meet tonight. The team score was a tie 63-63. All the boys worked hard and continue to improve! 1st place finishers were; 4x400 Relay with a team of Andrew Santoro, Ryder Snodgrass, Jacob Swartz, and Caleb Tyus, Caleb Tyus in the 200m dash and the long jump, Hunter Pedrotti in the high jump and the 100m dash, Jacob Swartz in the 300m hurdles, Hayden Deckard and Colton Green tied for 1st in the 3200m run. The boys and girls teams will be back in action Thursday evening at Tecumseh!
