The Mount Vernon boys basketball team ended the regular season with a victory on Senior Night over South Spencer 61-58. The Wildcats held on down the stretch by making 5 of 8 FTs in the 4th Quarter. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Jackson Clowers with 15 points, Nicot Burnett with 14 points, and Meyer Robb with 12 points. Mt. Vernon finishes the regular season with a 13-11 overall record and 6-6 in the PAC conference. This assured the Wildcats of their first winning season since the 2012-13 season and is the 5th winning season since the 1993-94 season. Mt. Vernon will look to continue their season in the Sectional starting Tuesday evening against Gibson Southern in the 2nd game of the Boonville Sectional. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 pm and we would love to have a great crowd cheering on the Wildcats!

Anyone interested in veterinary medicine there is a presentation this Saturday February 24th at 9:30 am at Black Township Fire Department.

Attention all sophomores, juniors and seniors. By Friday of this week, all eligible students who qualify by having a cumulative gpa of 3.5 or higher, will receive both a paper copy and an email invitation to apply to the Mt. Vernon Chapter of the National Honor Society. If you choose to apply, there is an application deadline of Friday, March 8th, 2024. If you feel you qualify, but have not received an invitation by this Friday, please email Mr. Bacon with questions. ALL students should be aware that ONLY the NHS applications from Mr. Bacon or Mr. Bethel are for the local chapter, and the application requires NO fee to be submitted. If ANY student receives an application in the mail or email, asking for money, it is NOT from, or affiliated with, the local chapter.

Seniors, need help with the FAFSA? Sunday, February 25 at 2:00 at Ivy Tech you can get help filing your FAFSA at College Goal Sunday. It is helpful for the student and parent to have their FSA ID created at least several days in advance. Pick up a flier in the cafeteria or the bulletin board across from Counseling which has information about what is helpful to take. See Mrs. Rose in Counseling with questions.
