TO THE STUDENTS:

• NO after school detention in Room B116 for this week. However, students may serve detention in the morning in the seating outside Mr. Fischer’s office. Please make sure to sign in on the clipboard on the desk in this area.  
• The track and field season will begin Monday February 14th after school until 4:30pm. We will meet right outside of the football locker rooms and direct the team from there after attendance. If you have questions or concerns please email Coach Wagner or Coach Snodgrass.

TO THE STUDENTS:

• College Visit forms are in the Counseling Office. Please have them filled out and returned to the Nurse at least a day before you attend the College.

• CALLING ALL STUDENTS
• Do you like to argue? Are you constantly burdened by being the smartest person in the room? Is the added pressure of always being right getting to you? If you answered yes to any of those questions then I have the perfect solution for you. MVHS is excited to announce the implementation of a new Debate Team. If you are interested, please join us for a brief meeting this Friday during the reading period in Mr. Bethel’s room (C123). 

• Miles Matter 5K  Date: November 20, 2021

Time: Start Time 10:00 a.m. - all age groups will compete together.   
700 Harriett Street - Band Parking Lot

Cost:  Entry Fee: $20 - This includes a T-Shirt! You will need to have the registration form and payment completed by Nov. 6th in order to guarantee a T-Shirt.

Race Theme: Wear red, white, and blue American-themed clothing to show your support  to those who served our country!  The goal of this event is to raise at least $500!   All 
funds raised will go to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 36 here in MV!    Bib Pick-Up and Day of Registration starts at 8:30 am in the Band Parking Lot.    Weather- this race will take place rain, shine, warm, or snow! Remember to dress  appropriately.   Bathrooms will be available.   Food and Drink- water will be available as well.

Wednesday, October 20, 2021      Gray Day  - SAT PREP Schedule - Citing Evidence

TO THE STUDENTS:

• Today we will be on SAT PREP Schedule - Khan Academy
• This week October 18-22, there will be a school wide book drive where all students can bring in gently used books to donate to Little Free Libraries around Mt. Vernon. This book drive will only last until Friday, so bring your books in as soon as possible. You can place your books in the boxes in the front foyer, main office, Mr. Ungetheim’s room, and Mrs. Delancey's room. 
• MVHS will be hosting a Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents this Thursday, October 21, at 6:00 pm in the Media Center.
• October 25th - October 29th is Red Ribbon Week. This week is designed to be an awareness campaign that gets information to the general public about the dangers of drug use. Students please wear red all next week in support of Red Ribbon Week.  There will be an awareness table set up during lunch on Monday, October 25th - please stop by on your way to the main gym after lunch.

• We will be on the SAT Prep Day Schedule this Wednesday, Sept. 29th and Thursday, Sept. 30th.
• Student Council will be taking orders for t-shirts during lunch this week to support Deputy Hicks.  Shirts are $20, orders and money are due Friday, Oct. 1st.   Please make checks payable to MVHS Student Council.   If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, there is a box in the main office.
• Key Club is collecting donations for Camp Atterbury to help them house Afghanistan evacuees.  Donations of NEW UNUSED baby supplies including powdered formula, diapers and wipes can be dropped off in Mr. Ungentheim’s Room C110. Please donate by Friday, October 1, 2021.

• FCCLA membership forms and money are due this week in order to attend the breakfast.  Membership forms are on the bulletin board outside of Mrs Schneider's room A106.
• College GO! Week - Friday - Your future starts here! Show your school spirit by wearing maroon, grey, or white.  Trivia will take place on Friday, during the first 5 minutes of the Reading Period.  An email will be sent to students with the question and the link to find the answer.  The first student in the freshman/sophomore group and the first student in the junior/senior group to email me the correct answer will win a prize!

• REMINDER: All MSD schools and the district office will be CLOSED on Labor Day- Monday, September 6, 2021 as scheduled on the school calendar.
• Picture Day will be Thursday, September 9th 
• "The Marching Wildcat Color Run is being held on Sept. 11th, starting at 8am. This  is  a 5k Color race to benefit the Mount Vernon High School Band program. It is a fun-filled race designed to promote being active and getting a little messy while supporting our high school band students. All profits from this race go to fund the band activities related to Mount Vernon High School Band Program."
• Any student interested in being part of the creation of the Senior Video should contact Mr. Pickrell or Mrs. Block.
• The senior class president position is vacant; therefore, any senior student in good standing interested in running for the position, needs to pick up an application from Mrs. Delancy in room A218.

• The MV cheer team and student council are working together to honor and support members of our community that are fighting or have fought all forms of cancer.  The inaugural Go Fight Cure Honor Walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 prior to kickoff of the MV vs Gibson Southern football game. We will have participants line up in the south gate entrance to the field and walk down to the other end of the track carrying signs recognizing their friends and loved ones. You can bring your own pre-made signs or we will have paper and markers available at check-in. Like other stand up to cancer events, participants will raise signs together in tribute. We have invited Gibson Southern fans to participate as well. Check-in will begin at 6:15 p.m. Pink t-shirts featuring the Go Fight Cure and school logos are available via pre-sale only for $15 and may be picked up at check-in. Shirt orders and payments must be received in the athletic office by Friday.
