TO THE STUDENTS:

  • On Wednesday, 9/14 our school representative from Neff Company will be here during the lunch period for letter jacket fittings and sales.  He will be set up outside of the Aux gym.  Order forms can be picked up in advance from the athletic office.  Parents are welcome to come in a talk with him that day as well.  Please contact the athletic office with questions.

CONGRATULATIONS:

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams for their strong performance at Gibson Southern.  Several runners from Mt. Vernon just missed out on receiving ribbons.  Three Mt. Vernon girls did receive ribbons.  Ashley Lilleston placed 24th in the Junior/Senior girls race.  Avery Stills received a ribbon for a 17th place finish in the Freshman/Sophomore girls race.  The highest place of the evening and receiving a ribbon for 15th place was Brynn Davis.

The Lady Cat golfers continued to improve against Mt. Carmel and Princeton, with a 2nd place finish.  The team was led by Hadley Weatherford with a 45, Liv Culley with 51, Haley Rutledge with 52, and Hannah Carr with her personal best of 54.

CONGRATULATIONS:
Varsity Football defeated South Spencer 56-30
Kortez Stewart rushed for 105 yards and 3 TDs, Nicot Burnett also rushed for a TD and threw for 3 more to go with 184 yards passing.  Jackson Clowers tallied 106 yards receiving and 2 TDs.  Nash Hostetter hauled in his 1st career TD.  Defensively, Shane Krieger intercepted the Rebels.  Parker Willard scored a defensive touchdown on a 67 yard return.  Brady Schickel blocked a South Spencer punt as well.  

Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Southridge High School 11-1
8 Goals were scored by Maty Burnett, while Olivia Robels, Valarie Thompson, Ella Sponn each scored a goal.  Ella Sponn and Maddie Maier contributed 2 assists each, and Olivia Robels, Lera Wilson, and Reagan Sullivan each had 1 assist. 

Varsity Volleyball went 2-0 against South Spencer and Washington. Mallory Nurrenbern led the offense with 19 kills, Kaleigh Kelley added 15 kills, Arlissa Sharber 12 kills and Cassidy Jones 11 kills. Cassidy Jones also had 6 aces on the day. Brooke Sledd led the defense with 29 digs, Hannah Seifert added 3 blocks to the defense. Kaleigh Kelley had 37 assists. The Lady Wildcats are now 6-2 on the season and 3-1 PAC conference play.

Girls Varsity Cross Country finished in 15th place at the Evansville Harrison Invite.  Brynn Davis, Avery Stills, Krissy Bazan, Ashley Lilleston, Ellie Blackburn, Izzy Zieren, Destin Gentry, and Avery Fritschle all ran strong races.

  • The Lady Wildcats beat Evansville Central 3-0. Leading the Lady Wildcat offense was Mallory Nurrenbern with 16 kills, Hannah Seifert added 8 kills, and Kaleigh Kelley had 7 kills. Brooke Sledd had 17 digs to lead the defense. Kaleigh Kelley served 27 times and had 4 aces. Lady Wildcats are now 4-2 on the season.

  • Girls Varsity Volleyball beat Ev. Harrison 3-0.    Arlissa Sharber and Mallory Nurrenbern led the offense with each having 8 kills. Kaleigh Kelley added 7 more kills to the offense. Both Brooke Sledd and Kaleigh Kelley had 4 aces on the night. Brooke Sledd led the offense with 16 digs. The Lady Wildcats are now 3-2 on the season.

All grade levels will be involved.  This survey will help connect students to universities depending on their interests in various careers.   • Congratulations to the following MVHS teams:
  1. Saturday Girls Varsity Volleyball beat over Southridge High School 3-1.  The Lady Wildcats defeated Southridge with a great team effort. Across the board, the Lady Wildcats had 4 players with over 5 kills in the offense. Leading the offense was Mallory Nurrenbern with 10 kills, Kaleigh Kelley, Sydney Deig, and Hannah Seifert all had 8 kills each. Defensively, Brooke Sledd racked up 20 digs, Kaleigh Kelley 15 and Arlissa Sharber 10. Cassidy Jones also brought the defense with 6 blocks. Haley Duffey contributed to the defense with 9 digs. The Lady Wildcats are back in action this week again Mater Dei and Wood Memorial. 
  2. Also on Saturday the Boys Varsity Cross Country traveled to Gibson Southern on for the 2ndAnnual Hokum Karem Relays. MVHS tied Gibson Southern High School 0-0.  MVHS had one competitive relay team and one exhibition team.
